Two easy homemade Pistachio Milk Recipes
Hey Squad,
I'm back with another recipe. Personally, I don't drink cow's milk. It has never agreed with since I was a kid. I drank soy milk for as long as I can remember but switched over to Almond milk in recent years. I've been talking about making my own nut milk for a year now but just to lazy to I guess. That's until I found the awesome kits from Weheartaltmilk. Their kits give you everything you need to make artisan style alternative milk at home.
Depending on the brand some store-bought nut milk may have a lot of additives and not very many nuts. Do your research on the brand you normally buy and consider switching from almond to hemp or oat, or making your nut milk at home.
I used the pistachio kit because I've ever had pistachio milk and wanted to try it. They have almond, pistachio, hazelnut, oat, hemp and cashew milk kits.
In the kit, you get an 8 or 16oz glass bottle, a cheesecloth, an elastic band, Himalaya sea salt, agave nectar and instructions on how to put it all together from start to finish. All you need is a blender and water.
You first soak the pistachios for 8 hours. You then blend them with water and strain the milk through the cheesecloth and voila, pistachio milk. I must say the straining and squeezing the milk took a while but it was very therapeutic. I felt at ease and so creative using my hands to make something I was excited to try. Yes after 30 things like making milk excite you lol. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the taste and how easy it was and to think I was putting it off for so long.
Now I was so excited about the pistachio milk that I had to whip up some easy peasy drink recipes.
I made Pistachio Milk Matcha Latte
Ingredients:
4oz Homemade Pistachio Milk (tutorial)
1 tsp Matcha green tea powder
1 oz Water
Mix pistachio milk, water, and Matcha green tea powder in a blender. My favorite is the Nutri Ninja Pro Blender. Throw the mix on the stove and heat to the desired temperature. Easy peasy! Add more agave for sweetness. So good in the morning if you are looking for a different morning beverage.
I then made a Chocolate Pistachio Protein shake.
4oz Homemade Pistachio Milk
Ice
Mix pistachio milk, Dutch chocolate and ice in the blender and oh my gosh so delicious…..and did I mention healthy, full of fiber and protein!
I will definitely be trying more alternative milk kits from Weheartaltmilk to make some more artisan homemade milk. Their kits are so cute. Great for someone starting out or super cute as a gift. Use code BuBu15" to get 15% off your order.
