How to create an energy chart for self-care

How to create an energy chart for self-care

Okay people let’s talk energy,

Everything we do is an exchange of energy. We are like a rechargeable battery but because of the day to day we forget the most important part, which is to actually recharge. This is how I like to think about self-care. It can be something as small as sipping a cup of coffee to doing your skincare routine.

They say energy flows where intentions go. Its hard to keep track of this because our minds are prone to wonder unintentionally. If your someone who doesn't actively practice mindfulness this can be a difficult task.

I have another blog post on tips that help with being more mindful. As a mom, wife, blogger, freelancer I have to be aware of how I spend my energy daily or it will just lead to a complete depletion. Energy depletion doesn't help you, your family, your career or business. You cannot pour into others if your own cup is empty.

This simple chart is a great way to visually see where your energy is flowing. More precisely, what tasks, events or people are giving you energy vs taking energy away. And yes I did mention people, they are not excluded. If after talking to that certain co-worker leaves you feeling drained, you can visually see it and may want to avoid that coworker or counter balance that energy with something that gives you a boost.

All you need is a pen and a piece of paper.

• Write your name in the middle

• Circle it

• Surround that circle with all the things and events you do in a day or daily

• Arrow pointed towards you give you energy

• Arrow pointed away from you takes energy away

When your done you can visually see where your energy is flowing. If you have more energy takers vs energy givers you may want to think and rearrange your day. Add things for you that fuel you and give you energy.

Here's a list of energy givers for me:

Yoga

Meditation

Grounding

Sunlight

Dancing

Nutrient dense foods

Water

Organizing

Energy takers:

Clutter

Dehydration

Junkfood

Stress

Negative projections from others

Lack of sleep
